Welcome to the BioFluids Laboratory

Biomedical fluid flow phenomena is an interdisciplinary field of research that focuses on the transport and circulation of blood and its interaction with biological systems. In today's engineering world, the interdisciplinary integration of research is important for better understanding of all physical phenomena. For instance, in order to prevent, diagnose and treat vascular diseases, detailed knowledge of blood flow and the response of blood vessels is essential.

To meet the global challenges, the diversification of mechanical engineering education with cutting edge research is a must. To keep with the challenges, the department of Mechanical Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) is conducting a project title "Development of Research Facilities on Biomedical Fluid Flow Phenomena (CP2099)" which has been awarded as a sub-project of Academic Innovation Fund (AIF-2nd round) under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) implemented by University Grants Commission (UGC) through Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of Bangladesh (GoB). Under this sub-project, the state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities in biomedical fluid flow simulation will be developed in BioFluids Laboratory, ME, BUET. It is expected that this sub-project will improve the quality and competence in research for the betterment of human life to the nation as well in the globe.

Sub-Project Type: Promoting Innovative Research & Research Facilities (Window-2: Research Not Leading to Degree)

Funding: AIF grant of BDT 2,93,98,000/- (UGC-HEQEP Contract no. 28/2012; 10/04/12)

Project Duration: April 2012 to March 2014 (2 years)
